| In the north east near the Russian border the mine system was, in 2005, entirely worked by SY steam locos. |
| At the beginning of November 2005 the mine was very busy with 35 locos in steam. A further 12 were stored, |
| out of use, in a nearby field, guarded by a man and a dog! The out of service locos gave the impression that |
| they were rotated with the in-service ones as some had clearly run recently and two were ex-works. |
