The Dahuichang Limestone Railway carries limestone from the loading point at the quarry about a kilometre to the tipplers at the cement works. Half way is a level crossing. A hundred metres from the crossing is a switch, suspended over the railway, which is activated by a metal ladder arrangement fixed to the cab roof. The switch rings a bell in the crossing hut to warn the keeper to lower the gates.
