Throughout the Summer months Sunday excursions were run to various seaside |
| resorts. In August 1963 Black Five 44861 heads 1X30 most probably to Skegness |
| and Mablethorpe. Due to engineering works on the Main Line the train had to |
| set back into the centre refuge before drawing forward on to the Goods Line |
|

In August 1962 8F 48177 heads south on the Goods Line with a mixed freight. |

| From their introduction Fowler 4F 0-6-0 locos hauled freight through the Erewash Valley. |
| In Autumn 1964 an unidentified member of the class hauls a Toton bound coal train |

| To the east of the station the wet formation together with the underlying clay gave |
| the civil engineers continual problems with the permanent way. In October 1964 |
| the Up Main is dug out to lay a membrane to stop the clay pumping into the |
| ballast. 4F no. 44233 passes light engine on the Down Goods. |
