Throughout the Summer months Sunday excursions were run to various seaside

 resorts.  In August 1963 Black Five 44861 heads 1X30 most probably to Skegness
and Mablethorpe.  Due to engineering works on the Main Line the train had to
set back into the centre refuge before drawing forward on to the Goods Line
 

 

 

 

In August 1962 8F 48177 heads south on the Goods Line with a mixed freight.

 

 
From their introduction Fowler 4F 0-6-0 locos hauled freight through the Erewash Valley.
  In Autumn 1964 an unidentified member of the class hauls a Toton bound coal train
 

 

 
To the east of the station the wet formation together with the underlying clay gave
 the civil engineers continual problems with the permanent way.  In October 1964
 the Up Main is dug out to lay a membrane to stop the clay pumping into the
 ballast.  4F no. 44233 passes light engine on the Down Goods.
